Introduction

Business Server is a full solution for organising work as well as storing and processing data.

The Business Server solution includes:

  • server software and hardware;
  • server maintenance and administration;
  • a well-organized environment for document administration, data processing and data sharing;
  • installing and using most of the ERP software applications available in Estonia;
  • sharing and managing printers;
  • sending and receiving faxes over the Internet;
  • regular backup copies of documents and e-mails;
  • changing the number and rights of users;
  • efficient antivirus protection and junk mail filters;
  • monthly payment.

MicroLink sees to it that your hardware and software are always functioning. For emergencies, call our helpdesk. The schedule for failure recovery has been laid down by the agreement.

With Business Server, it’s easy to administer your documents or process and share data. It only takes a click to create new user accounts that can be cancelled just as easily when an employee leaves the company.

You don’t need to worry about making copies of files and storing them. Business Server makes automatic backup copies of all the files on the server.

Business Server is secure because it enables central management of anti-spam and offers anti-virus protection for servers and user PCs. In addition, firewall permits only authorized data traffic.

We use the Hewlett-Packard Proliant ML310 and ProLiant ML350 servers with the HP uninterrupted power supply HP UPS T750.

The following can be added to the servers:

  • add-on hard disk drives;
  • add-on memory;
  • additional network interface cards;
  • additional tape libraries;
  • fax modems.
The following can be exchanged:
  • two backup tapes and one cleaning tape once a year;
  • a server once every three years.

The UPS ensures a continuous power supply to your server, preventing damage caused by power failure or voltage fluctuation.

Operating Environment Software and Services

Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition is the operating environment for our Business Server.

MS SBS 2003 Premium Edition enables you to use the following standard server software and services::

  • user-centric identification management;
  • file and print server services;
  • e-mail and groupwork solutions;
  • Intranet tools;
  • fax server services;
  • database engine (SQL);
  • file management tools;
  • junk mail filtering;
  • firewall (software);
  • Internet connection security;
  • data backup.
The services and functionalities provided by the Business Server are activated according to the client’s request.

Services Specifications

User Identification Management Service
  • We use Microsoft’s Active Directory (AD) technology for user identification and Windows domain administration.
  • Services we provide according to the client’s requirements:
    • the creation of an AD structure;
    • the creation of Groups;
    • the assignment of rights;
    • the creation of connections and rights between user groups and tools;
    • adding PCs to a domain;
    • the assignment of rights as Windows (2000, XP) Explorer or Office dialogs.
  • The single sign-on solution is used for access control.
  • The Remote Web Workplace enables authorized users to use remote access functions over the Internet.
File and Print Server Services
  • The creation of directory trees.
  • Each user will get free disk space on the server for storing and administering data.
  • The creation of common directories for groupwork or for storing, administering and processing company documents.
  • Personal and groupwork directories can be seen as virtual disks from the workstation.
  • Central printing of documents.
E-mail and Groupwork Solutions

All e-mail and groupwork services are based on the Microsoft Exchange Server2003 Standard Technology. The services include:
  • E-mail user accounts, calendars, address books, notes, tasks;
  • Public folders;
  • Access to all your data even when you’re out of office;
  • Access to e-mails on the mobile phone via Outlook Mobile Access;
  • Free-of-charge company domain names ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) with unlimited membership; mailbox size: 750 MB;

You need JavaScript enabled to view it ); mailbox size: 750MB; maximum size for external e-mails: 5 MB; e-mail size is not restricted on internal e-mails;
  • An unlimited number of free additional e-mail aliases. A client can have different domain name endings, e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it etc;
  • Setting the maximum mailbox size;
  • Setting size limits on e-mails sent to users or general e-mail addresses;
  • Setting restrictions on users’ rights of sending e-mails;
  • Restoring deleted items within 10 days free of charge;
  • Using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003;
  • The total size of all mailboxes and public folders cannot exceed 75 GB.
Intranet Tools

Our Intranet solutions are based on the Microsoft SharePoint Services, which enables easy upload of internal information and documents, linking and administration. The Microsoft Office FrontPage® 2003 Tool helps to create complex websites and custom solutions for the Windows SharePoint Services.

Fax Server Services
  • Faxes are prepared in the user’s Pc;
  • Paper- free faxes are sent and received in the user’s PC;
  • Faxes can be received and processed via SharePoint, e-mail or printer.
Database Engine (SQL)

Database solutions are based on the MS SQL 2000 application. We host applications that use databases for getting and processing data and making queries.

File Management Tools

The file management solution is based on the Microsoft SharePoint service.
  • My Documents folders of local workstations can be hosted in the server without disturbing the work of the user;
  • Offline copies;
  • Setting rights by the End User;
  • Volume Shadow Copy is a quick and efficient backup service that enables you to make backup copies of software;
  • Applications can be used centrally.
Junk Mail Filtering

The service includes creating and setting the rules for filtering and managing filtered e-mails.

Firewall

Windows Small Business Server 2003 includes a built-in firewall and supports external firewall.

Internet Connection Security

We use the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 technology to secure your Internet connections. The service includes advanced monitoring tools and reporting features.

Data Backup

Backup Wizard ensures regular backup of all data stored on the server. The backup copy is made once a week and stored for one week. Changes to data are backed up once a day and stored for one week. Data backup is performed on a backup tape.

Business Server uses the following Trend Micro antivirus and antispam products:

Trend Micro Control Manager (Win NT/2000/2003 Server)

Trend Micro Control Manager allows centralized management of all Trend Micro corporate products. Control Manager downloads the updates from the Trend Micro Web and shares them between single products. Control Manager is the heart of all Trend Micro products because it includes the intelligent Outbreak Prevention Commander which blocks viruses from entering the computer network.

OfficeScan Corporate Edition

OfficeScan Corporate Edition is an antivirus solution for connected servers, laptops and workstations. It allows central configuration and monitoring of workstations. OfficeScan uses operating systems Windows NT/2000/2003 Server to protect servers and Windows NT/2000_WS/95/98/ME/XP to protect computers against infected files, viruses, malicious Java applets and ActiveX control.

ScanMail for Exchange (Windowx NT/2000/2003 Server)

ScanMail is an effective antivirus solution for the Microsoft Exchange server. It checks all incoming and outgoing mail in real time, scanning users’ MS Exchange mailboxes and detecting infected e-mail.

ScanMail eManager (Plug-in for ScanMail Exchange, Windows NT/200/2003 Server)

eManager, an additional module of ScanMail for Exchange, enables Exchange to scan e-mail according to contents. The solution includes also an automatically renewable spam database, and enables to use keywords when filtering e-mails to avoid loss of sensitive information.

ScanMail eManager filters spam that is directed at users in the company’s LAN, preventing filtered spam from getting into your clients’ mailboxes.
The module can be installed on all servers using the ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange kernel module program. It includes automatic rules and imports file updates and log files.
