Firewall as a service offered by MicroLink, is a complex service with agreed SLA (Service Level Agreement). The customer is freed from purchasing the firewall appliance and software and training the personnel. Firewall policies are developed and applied in cooperation with Microlink (see Development and Enforcing of Network Security Policy).
A firewall is a vital component in today’s computer networking, protecting the corporate network against threats sourcing from outside and from inside. In the other hand, it has become de-facto that the firewall appliance has VPN (Virtual Private Network) and other UTM (Unified Threat Management) components integrated. As such, firewall is a central device in the corporate network, not only providing security, but also encrypted connections to branches, business partners and tele-workers (dial-up, VPN)
Service Firewall from MicroLink includes, but is not limited to the following: - the firewall appliance and software, including spare item at any point of time;
- availability of at least two certified specialists; assigning one specialist as a “first performer” of a device, always possessing a full knowledge of the configuration details;
- 24h automated monitoring and alerting by MicroLink’s monitoring servers;
- regular check by administrator, analyze of logs and monitoring data;
- keeping watch and reacting on monitoring incidents;

- providing real-time information to the customer about monitoring incidents and tasks performed by the administrators;
MicroLink’s firewall service is often based on Juniper Networks and Cisco Systems technologies. As opposed to several software-based firewall solutions, these technologies do not make use of the PC platform nor general-purpose operating system. This kind of architecture gives the best results in all areas of security, availability, speed and cost. Juniper Networks firewall products contain, but are not limited to the following UTM components: - firewall;
- VPN (incl. tele-working);
- antivirus (traffic scanning );
- spam filtering;
- web content filtering;
- IDP (Intrusion Detection and Prevention)
