MicroLink, the largest information technology company in Estonia sells the business category of economic software and software development to Helmes.
MicroLink focuses on daily activities of keeping the IT systems of its clients in working order; these activities already make up more than 50 percent of the company’s turnover. „Fixed IT services are a field where we have become the largest company in Estonia and in near future we want to grow outside Estonia with this field as well,“ explained Enn Saar, Chairman of the Board of MicroLink.
In relation with focussing on fixed IT services, the company decided to find a new owner for the business category of economic software and software development. „Unfortunately, it is not possible to develop equally fast and profitably in all fields of activities and this is why we chose Helmes as a trustworthy partner who will continue to provide a high-quality service,“ told Enn Saar.
MicroLink’s business category of economic software (Dynamics AX and SAP) will continue its activities as a 100% subsidiary of Helmes; the business category of software development will be merged with Helmes as well. As a total, ca. 40 software experts and consultants will be joining Helmes. According to the agreement between the parties, they will not disclose the amount of the purchase-sale transaction.
MicroLink will continue to provide the services of information management, IT systems housing and maintenance services to corporate customers; at the same time, training courses will be conducted for computer users and top-level specialists, and consultation services (ITIL, ISKE, etc.) will be provided.
According to Jaan Pillesaar, Chairman of the Council of Helmes, the customers and employees of both companies will gain from this transaction, and there are indirect gains for Estonia as well in the form of increase of export. „The gain of the customers in Estonia from this transaction is a smoother and more comprehensive service. Higher number of experts allows for faster reaction times and more flexible picking of project teams according to the skills required by the customer. Helmes will add a long-term experience of serving international companies,“ said Pillesaar.
